Randstad is looking for a Product Design Engineer to join their team! You will serve as a pivotal Product Design Engineer for a major automotive manufacturer, applying deep technical expertise to lead challenging projects, mentor junior engineers, and influence team direction. This position is onsite in Zeeland, MI.

responsibilities:

Lead and execute complex engineering projects, ensuring technical solutions meet performance, cost, and quality objectives.

Mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing guidance and support to foster skill development and promote a culture of learning.

Drive the integration of new technologies and methodologies into project phases to enhance product functionality and manufacturability.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, and supply chain, to ensure seamless project execution.

Manage cross-functional communications regarding interior components and finite components, such as door handles and dash steering.

Conduct in-depth technical reviews and analyses to optimize designs and improve system performance.

Proactively identify potential project risks, devise mitigation strategies, and manage changes to keep project timelines and deliverables on track.

Organize project information, listen actively, and clarify questions for accurate reporting and seamless project execution.

qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (ME degree is highly preferred) or a related field.

7 to 12 years of progressive engineering experience.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in leading engineering projects. Hands-on experience with Catia software.

Proven background and practical experience in plastic part design. Self-starter mentality with a highly solutions-oriented approach.

Strong team collaboration skills, with the ability to bring options and ideas to the table.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred qualifications:

Prior experience within the automotive industry.

Demonstrated ability to make sense of complex, high-quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems.

Required Skills - Hands-on experience with Catia software. Proven background and practical experience in plastic part design. Self-starter mentality with a highly solutions-oriented approach. Strong team collaboration skills, with the ability to bring options and ideas to the table. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
