Senior Android Engineer

We are partnering with a fast-growing sports tech business that is building a modern mobile platform for fans and sports creators. They are looking for a hands-on Senio Android Engineer to build their brand-new Android application from scratch.

As the first Android engineer, you will own the technical architecture, codebase, CI/CD pipeline, and Google Play Store rollout.

Location: Remote UK (with occasional London team meet-ups)

Package: Up to £82,000 with (Employee Stock Ownership Plan + Health Benefits)

Core Tech: Kotlin 2.x, Jetpack Compose, MVVM, Hilt, Coroutines/Flow, OpenAPI, Firebase, CI/CD

Key Responsibilities

• Greenfield Development: Build the core Android app using modern Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.

• Architecture & Standards: Design a clean, testable MVVM multi-module setup and set best practices.

• Platform Features: Manage user auth, push notifications, deep links, and media player integrations.

• CI/CD & Delivery: Set up automated testing, build pipelines, and Play Store releases.

Essential Requirements

• Android Experience: 5+ years in Android development with 2+ years building production apps in Jetpack Compose.

• Kotlin Mastery: Deep understanding of Kotlin, coroutines, structured concurrency, and Flow.

• Full Ownership: Proven track record owning app design, testing, modularisation, and store deployments.

• API Integration: Hands-on experience with REST/OpenAPI and performance tuning for mobile devices.

Desirable Skills

• Experience taking a consumer app from zero to launch or being the sole Android engineer.

• Familiarity with media streaming tools (ExoPlayer), JNI, or Google Play Billing.
