Senior IT Project Manager – Mobile Device Deployment & Refresh (5964-1)

Location: Onsite – 2 Broadway, MTA Headquarters, New York, NY
Duration: 12 Months

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to support enterprise-level technology projects involving mobile devices, including iPhones, iPads, and related accessories.

The primary initiative is a large-scale State of Good Repair (SOGR) Device Replacement/Upgrade Project, focused on replacing or upgrading devices that are more than five years old or are no longer compatible with current operating system requirements.

The Project Manager will manage projects from planning through completion, coordinate with MTA departments and stakeholders, assess device inventories, develop deployment plans, and ensure devices meet current IT, security, and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage enterprise-level mobile device refresh and replacement projects from planning through completion.

  • Coordinate with departments and stakeholders to assess device inventories and determine replacement requirements.

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, deployment plans, milestones, timelines, and status reports.

  • Coordinate procurement, receipt, inventory, staging, configuration, and deployment of mobile devices and accessories.

  • Ensure devices are properly configured, documented, asset-tagged, and entered into appropriate systems.

  • Coordinate with IT, MDM, Service Desk, Asset Management, Procurement, vendors, and business stakeholders.

  • Manage the complete device lifecycle, including receipt, staging, assignment, deployment, replacement, return, and disposition.

  • Monitor project progress and identify risks, issues, dependencies, and potential delays.

  • Develop mitigation strategies to keep projects on schedule.

  • Track inventory, deployment status, user participation, device returns, outstanding activities, and project deliverables.

  • Reconcile inventory and deployment information across multiple systems and data sources.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, trackers, reports, and status updates.

  • Communicate project status, risks, issues, dependencies, and required actions to leadership and stakeholders.

  • Ensure project activities remain within scope, schedule, budget, and established IT, security, and compliance standards.

  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to resolve shipment, inventory, device, and deployment issues.

  • Support the transition of completed projects into normal operational processes.

  • Identify opportunities to improve device deployment, inventory tracking, and project-management processes.

Required Skills

  • 4–6+ years of directly relevant Project Management experience

  • Mobile device deployment/refresh experience

  • Mobile device lifecycle management

  • ServiceNow – 4–6+ years

  • Advanced MS Excel – 4–6+ years

  • Strong experience with Excel trackers, Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, inventory reconciliation, and data analysis

  • Experience managing device inventory and deployment data

  • Strong stakeholder and vendor coordination skills

  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills

  • Strong project planning, tracking, reporting, and risk-management experience

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with enterprise iPhone/iPad deployment or refresh projects

  • Experience working with Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms

  • Experience with IT Asset Management and Service Desk teams

  • Experience managing large-scale technology refresh initiatives

  • Experience in transportation, government, or other large enterprise environments
