The Role

• Interpret engineering drawings, mark off materials, and prepare plate using cutting and grinding methods.
• Assemble ship structures, ensuring accurate fitting, fairing, and tack-welding of components.
• Fabricate various ship items including seats, ladders, flooring, panels, and doors.
• Operate machine tools for forming materials, such as rolling, flanging, and cutting equipment.
• Adhere to strict safety, health, and environmental (SHE) principles and risk-assessment requirements.

What You'll Need

• A Modern Apprenticeship certificate (Trade Papers) and relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g., SVQ3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
• Up-to-date fabrication knowledge and hands-on experience in construction or manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency in core manufacturing processes and tack welding to safety and quality standards.
• Confident and responsible operation of oxy-fuel and/or plasma cutting equipment.
• Experience working safely in confined spaces or at height, supported by relevant safety certifications.
• Ability to pass security and export control restrictions, including baseline personnel security standard and potential higher levels of national security vetting.
