AI-Assisted Full Stack Java Engineer - Chicago, IL (Locals Only)

We are seeking a Senior AI-Assisted Full Stack Engineer with strong experience in Java and/or React development and hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Anthropic Claude and Cursor.

The ideal candidate will use AI tools as development accelerators while applying strong engineering judgment to ensure that AI-generated code is high quality, secure, maintainable, tested, and production-ready.

Key Responsibilities : 

Use AI-assisted development tools, including Claude and Cursor, to accelerate software design, development, refactoring, testing, and hardening.

Review, validate, and improve AI-generated code before it is introduced into production.

Develop and maintain full-stack applications using Java and/or React.

Guide engineering teams on effective approaches for evaluating and hardening AI-generated software artifacts.

Ensure AI-assisted code meets enterprise standards for quality, security, performance, and maintainability.

Participate in the complete Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects, Developers, QA, and other engineering teams.

Participate in Agile ceremonies and delivery processes.

Perform code reviews, testing, refactoring, debugging, and production hardening.

Identify potential risks, vulnerabilities, performance issues, and maintainability concerns in AI-generated code.

Apply experienced engineering judgment to determine when AI-generated solutions require modification or replacement.

Help establish practical approaches and standards for responsible AI-assisted software development.

Required Skills : 

Strong experience as a Full Stack Engineer with Java and/or React.

Demonstrated hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools, particularly:

Anthropic Claude

Cursor

Experience using AI tools for:

Software design

Code generation

Refactoring

Testing

Debugging

Code hardening

Strong understanding of software engineering best practices.

Ability to review and validate AI-generated code for:

Quality

Security

Performance

Maintainability

Production readiness

Strong experience across the full Software Development Lifecycle.

Experience working with Product Owners, Architects, and engineering teams.

Strong Agile development experience.

Ability to guide other engineers in effectively and responsibly using AI-assisted development tools.
