ABOUT THE ROLE
We are recruiting an experienced Workers' Compensation Paralegal to support attorneys in a respected Cleveland law office. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented legal professional who understands Ohio workers' compensation procedures and can independently manage claims, filings and deadlines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare workers' compensation claims for administrative hearings
- Draft pleadings, claim summaries, correspondence and other legal documents
- Request, organize and review medical records
- Coordinate independent medical examinations and prepare summary correspondence
- Monitor case activity, filing requirements and critical deadlines
- Submit documents electronically to courts and administrative agencies
- Proofread filings for accuracy and compliance with applicable rules
- Assist with depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings and trials
- Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, medical providers and outside parties
- Identify potential issues and escalate them appropriately
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least three years of paralegal experience in a law firm or other legal setting
- Working knowledge of Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation and Industrial Commission of Ohio procedures
- Paralegal certificate, related degree or bachelor's degree preferred
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent writing, proofreading, analytical and organizational abilities
- Ability to manage competing priorities and complete time-sensitive assignments
- Sound judgment and a proactive approach to attorney support
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- $72,000 - $105,000 per year, based on experience, education and qualifications
