Data Centre Shift Engineer

Shift Engineer – FM Service Provider – Critical Data Centre – Basingstoke – £52,000
CBW Staffing Solutions are currently recruiting for a Shift Engineer to join an established Facilities Management service provider, working at a critical data centre in Basingstoke.
The successful candidate will be electrically biased, with strong building maintenance experience and the ability to lead a shift team within a critical environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to develop their career, with a competitive salary of £52,000, ongoing training and progression opportunities.
Hours of Work:

• Continental shift pattern – days and nights
  
• Days: 07:00 – 17:00
  
• Nights: 19:00 – 07:00
  

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across all building services and client assets.
• Ensure accurate maintenance records are maintained, including health and safety, building compliance and quality assurance documentation.
• Supervise subcontractors, ensuring work is completed safely and in line with contractual requirements.
• Ensure plant faults and defects are identified and rectified promptly to maintain operational reliability.
• Ensure appropriate spare parts are available to support maintenance activities.
• Complete job sheets and maintain comprehensive maintenance records.
• Prepare, review and follow Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for all planned and reactive works.
• Lead and manage the shift engineering team, ensuring all tasks are completed to the required standard.
• Maintain and develop strong working relationships with the client.
• Delegate and monitor work to ensure tasks are actioned and completed efficiently.
• Conduct annual performance appraisals for shift engineers.
• Identify training requirements and support the development of the shift team through appropriate training plans.

Requirements:

• Electrically qualified, ideally with City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ.
• City & Guilds 18th Edition qualification.
• HV/LV experience or authorisation desirable.
• Proven experience in building services maintenance.
• Multi-skilled knowledge across electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of critical building services, including UPS systems, generators, power distribution, HVAC and HV/LV infrastructure.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• Good leadership and team management abilities.
