Job Description:

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly capable AI Technical Lead / AI Manager with strong AI fundamentals and hands-on technical expertise to lead and guide an existing AI professionals. The ideal candidate will serve as the technical anchor for AI initiatives, providing leadership, mentorship, architectural guidance, and delivery oversight.

This role will function as an extension of client's AI leadership team, helping drive execution while reducing dependency on the current AI Head, who is heavily engaged across multiple initiatives. The successful candidate must be comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands-on involvement in solution design, development reviews, troubleshooting, and delivery governance.

Key Responsibilities

AI Technical Leadership

• Provide day-to-day technical leadership and supervision for AI engineers and developers.
• Review and guide AI solution designs, architecture decisions, and implementation approaches.
• Establish and enforce AI engineering best practices, coding standards, and development methodologies.
• Mentor and coach team members to improve technical capability and delivery effectiveness.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical challenges.

Solution Architecture & Design

• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to define AI solution strategies.
• Lead solution design discussions and validate technical approaches.
• Guide the team in developing scalable, secure, and maintainable AI solutions.
• Review functional and technical requirements and translate them into implementation plans.
• Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and governance standards.

Delivery Oversight

• Monitor project progress, technical risks, dependencies, and delivery quality.
• Conduct design reviews, code reviews, and solution walkthroughs.
• Support effort estimation, sprint planning, and prioritization activities.
• Proactively identify and remove technical roadblocks impacting delivery.
• Ensure successful execution of AI initiatives within agreed timelines and quality expectations.

Hands-On AI Engineering

• Provide hands-on support for complex development activities when required.
• Guide teams on AI/ML model implementation, Generative AI solutions, prompt engineering, and AI integration patterns.
• Support proof-of-concept development, technology evaluations, and innovation initiatives.
• Assist with troubleshooting and optimization of AI applications and services.

Stakeholder Management

• Act as the bridge between business stakeholders, AI leadership, and offshore delivery teams.
• Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
• Facilitate technical discussions and decision-making sessions.
• Build strong relationships across cross-functional business and technology teams.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of overall IT experience with a strong technical foundation.
• 3+ years of experience leading AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, or Generative AI initiatives.
• Proven experience managing or mentoring distributed/offshore technical teams.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts, model lifecycle, and AI solution delivery.
• Hands-on experience with Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Strong programming experience in Python and related AI/ML frameworks.
• Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale AI solutions.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar AI platforms.
• Knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, AI agents, and prompt engineering.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with MLOps, model deployment, monitoring, and AI governance practices.
• Consulting or client-facing experience preferred.
• Experience working within large enterprise environments.
