Software Engineer Location: Anywhere Description

Onsite/Hybrid in Gaithersburg, MD or Ashburn, VA Our client seeks Software Engineers at all levels to design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug Java-based applications for federal government clients. This role involves working on complex systems requiring strong programming skills and an understanding of software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications for federal government clients
  • Troubleshoot and debug existing applications to improve performance and fix issues
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure code quality and adherence to best practices
  • Implement secure coding practices and address vulnerabilities
  • Document software designs, code, and processes Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in Java application development
  • Proficiency in Java, J2EE, and related frameworks
  • Experience with software development tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum)
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with federal government projects
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices and compliance standards
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
  • Experience with database systems and SQL
