Job Description

We’re partnering confidentially with a high-end precision manufacturer to hire an experienced Second Shift CNC Lead.

This is a unique opportunity for a senior machinist who wants more ownership without moving away from the technical side of manufacturing. The company is investing in and expanding its second-shift operation, and this person will play a major role in how that shift is built and operates long term.

This is not a desk-based supervisor position. You’ll be on the floor as the senior technical resource—helping machinists solve difficult problems, troubleshooting complex jobs, supporting quality, setting priorities, and keeping production moving.

The work consists of complex, tight-tolerance components for highly regulated industries, so we're looking for someone who has worked in an environment where machining knowledge, GD&T, inspection, and process discipline really matter.

What You'll Own:

  • Serve as the senior technical resource for CNC machining on second shift
  • Troubleshoot difficult setups, tooling, workholding, dimensional issues, and process instability
  • Support both CNC milling and turning operations
  • Provide technical support around additional precision manufacturing processes
  • Help machinists work through complex, tight-tolerance jobs
  • Read and interpret advanced prints, specifications, and GD&T
  • Work closely with quality to diagnose inspection and dimensional issues
  • Coordinate priorities and keep jobs moving across the shift
  • Identify tooling, material, equipment, quality, or capacity issues before they become larger problems
  • Maintain strong communication between first and second shift
  • Mentor and develop less-experienced machinists
  • Help establish the standards, accountability, and technical culture of a growing second-shift team

We're looking for someone who is a machinist first and a leader second.

You should be the type of person other machinists naturally go to when a difficult job isn't running correctly.

Strong candidates will bring:

  • 7+ years of CNC machining experience
  • Strong hands-on CNC milling and turning knowledge
  • Experience troubleshooting complex setups and machining processes
  • Advanced blueprint reading and GD&T
  • Strong understanding of dimensional inspection and quality
  • Experience with tight-tolerance, high-precision manufacturing
  • Experience mentoring, leading, or serving as the technical resource for other machinists
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, medical, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off
  • Life and disability insurance
  • HSA/FSA options
  • Bonus potential
