UX Researcher (Contract)


Overview

We're looking for an experienced UX Researcher to join a leading global retailer's digital product team on an initial 6-month contract (Inside IR35), with a strong likelihood of extension.

This is a predominantly a WFH role, with occasional travel to Nottingham for workshops, stakeholder sessions and team meetings .


You'll work alongside Product Managers, UX Designers and Engineers to ensure product decisions are driven by genuine customer insight, helping deliver intuitive, user-centred digital experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end user research projects across multiple digital products.
  • Plan and conduct a range of qualitative research activities including usability testing, interviews, surveys, contextual enquiry and card sorting.
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Designers and Engineers to ensure research informs product strategy and prioritisation.
  • Organise and facilitate user research sessions, ensuring stakeholders are actively involved throughout the process.
  • Analyse qualitative and quantitative research findings, identifying actionable insights and customer pain points.
  • Present findings through engaging reports, presentations and workshops tailored to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Support product teams with evidence-based recommendations to shape product backlogs and roadmap decisions.
  • Champion user-centred design across Agile product teams, embedding customer insight into day-to-day decision making.
  • Facilitate insight-sharing sessions, collaborative workshops and playback sessions to build organisational understanding of customer behaviour.


Required Experience

  • Proven commercial experience as a UX/User Researcher leading research projects independently.
  • Strong experience conducting behavioural research including usability testing, interviews, surveys, observational research and other qualitative methods.
  • Experience analysing both qualitative and quantitative research data to produce clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to communicate complex findings confidently to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working within Agile product teams alongside UX Designers and Product Managers.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
  • Passion for understanding user behaviour and creating customer-centred digital products.


Desirable

  • Experience using interactive prototypes during usability testing.
  • Familiarity with product analytics tools and quantitative research methods.
  • Background in Psychology, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Sociology or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within large-scale digital transformation or enterprise product environments.
