Senior Software Engineer

Our client, a fintech SaaS company and category leader in Environmental Obligation Management, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help shape the future of their platform. Their software centralizes and automates the full lifecycle of Environmental Remediation Obligations (EROs) and Asset Retirement Obligations (AROs) for global industrial enterprises - replacing fragmented spreadsheets and outdated tools with a purpose-built, multi-tenant SaaS platform.

Our client is seeking someone who brings deep engineering expertise, a strong Computer Science foundation, and a passion for solving real-world problems at scale. Experience with data-driven applications or highly regulated industries (energy, environmental, finance) is a plus.

What You Will Be Doing

• 35% - Backend Systems & APIs: Design and build scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs that power the enterprise platform, ensuring reliability and maintainability at scale.
• 25% - Data Pipelines & Integration: Develop and optimize robust data pipelines and ETL workflows that integrate complex, multi-source environmental and financial data, supporting efficient customer onboarding and large-scale migrations.
• 20% - Architecture & Technical Direction: Own features end-to-end from architecture through deployment and iteration; contribute to platform-wide design decisions and help evolve the technical roadmap.
• 10% - AI-Driven Automation: Help integrate AI agents into core business workflows, embedding intelligence into process automation to drive measurable business value.
• 10% - Quality, Mentorship & Reliability: Champion best practices through code reviews and mentorship; build with monitoring, metrics, and alerting in mind, and lead post-incident reviews to strengthen system resilience.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
• 5+ years of professional experience building and maintaining production-grade backend systems in a high-growth or enterprise environment
• Proven ability to design scalable architectures, write clean code, and ship high-quality software in Java, Python, or similar
• Strong experience with modern development practices - CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, Azure)
• Experience with data integration, ETL pipelines, and tools for migrating, transforming, and validating complex datasets
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a bias for action and a strong sense of ownership from design through deployment
• Collaborative team player with strong communication skills and a desire to mentor others

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and interest in LLMs and AI agents
• Passion for innovation in AI/ML and a commitment to continuous learning
• Experience in highly regulated industries (energy, environmental, finance)
