Kentro is hiring for an experienced Sr. Intake & Integration Engineer to support our VA-ESOM Endpoint Support and Operations Monitoring contract across the United States. The Desktop Device & Engineering (DDE) Senior Engineering Intake & Integration Engineer serves as the primary engineering intake resource responsible for reviewing, validating, coordinating, and tracking engineering requests to ensure work is complete, compliant, and ready for execution across the Endpoint Engineering organization. The role supports requests involving application packaging, hardware, drivers, configuration policies, Group Policy, internet browsers, and baseline requirements while ensuring consistent, secure, and standardized endpoint engineering practices within a large-scale federal IT environment.

Operating within a multi-contractor, agency-led environment, this position collaborates with endpoint engineering teams, operational support organizations, and requestors to coordinate engineering work throughout the intake and delivery lifecycle. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical knowledge, exceptional organizational and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams while ensuring engineering requests are accurately documented, validated, and transitioned for successful execution.

Location: This position can be performed remotely supported Eastern Time hours or work onsite at 55 Elk Street, 3rd Floor, Albany, NY 12210

Core Hours : Ranges between 7:30am - 5pm EST Monday to Friday

Salary Range: $117k-133k. Factors influencing pay within this range include geography, market demand, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This Kentro position provides on-site support for the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). The VHA has facility-specific vaccination and testing requirements (outlined below). If chosen for this role, candidates may be required to show proof that the below vaccinations and testing are current. The VHA will provide guidance on specific documents needed and how to request reasonable accommodations. Vaccine requirements may include COVID-19, Influenza, Measles Mumps & Rubella (MMR), Hepatitis B, and/or Varicella. Testing requirements may include Tuberculosis.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary owner of the Desktop Device & Engineering intake process.
  • Review and manage all DDE intake requests , including application packaging, hardware, drivers, configuration polic ies , Group Policy, Internet browsers , and baseline requirements
  • Perform quality assurance checks to ensure all requests are complete and meet established intake criteria before engineering work begins .
  • Collaborate with external resources to correct missing, incomplete, or inaccurate documentation submitted with intake requests.
  • Engage with requestors to clarify requirements that were not met during intake and ensure all submissions align with VA standards.
  • Validate each request against VA requirements and work closely with requestors to resolve gaps or compliance issues when needed.
  • Manage the full workflow lifecycle-from intake through development to closeout-ensuring all tasks, documentation, and processes are completed accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate with DDE leadership to prioritize incoming work requests based on mission priorities, resource availability, and operational impact.
  • Collaborate with DDE team members and cross-functional partners to maintain progress, translate custom tasking, and support workflow documentation, including change orders, build documents, compatibility test cases, and test results.
  • Prepare intake status reports, dashboards, and executive summaries identifying request status, aging, bottlenecks, risks, and overall workflow health.
  • Maintain responsibility for coordinating deployments, support, software upgrades, and integrations of new products into a customer environment.
  • Become familiar with the customer's technical environment and act as a point of contact between the agency and technical resources internal to the program.
  • Familiar with ap plication packaging, deployment, testing , a nd configuration activities supporting enterprise endpoint engineering initiatives to properly analyze intake requests .
  • Develop, maintain, and manage requirements documentation, ensuring all technical, functional, and compliance requirements are clearly captured, updated, and aligned with VA standards throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, application, and operational support teams to implement and validate enterprise engineering solutions.
  • Participate in technical design discussions, sprint planning, backlog refinement, change management activities, and implementation planning.
  • Ensure required technical documentation, implementation plans, and supporting artifacts are complete, accurate, and maintained throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance endpoint engineering services, deployment automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Support the tracking and reporting of intake activities, request status, and workflow metrics to help identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for process improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science , Math, or technical equivalent with 5 years of relevant experience or a total of 13 years of experience in lieu of education
  • Experience managing the complete intake lifecycle, including reviewing submissions, validating requirements, ensuring documentation accuracy, and coordinating with stakeholders to drive requests from initial intake through development and closeout.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and managing technical requirements documentation, ensuring all functional, operational, and compliance requirements are accurately captured and aligned with VA standards throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and execute structured engineering and intake processes, ensuring tasks, documentation, and workflow activities are completed accurately, consistently, and in alignment with established standards.
  • Experience in documentation of application installation and OS configuration items .
  • Familiar with a variety of software packaging programs, tools, and languages .
  • Familiar with developing and testing GPOs, Baseline Desktop OS Images , and application packages .
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical information, collaborate effectively with cross functional teams, and engage with requestors to resolve requirements, documentation needs, and intake issues.
  • Experience in supporting field testing application packages, working with requestors to resolve any issues discovered during testing, implementation, and deployment
  • Familiar with the analysis, design, and integration of information systems and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and development software.
  • Must be well versed in understanding structured analysis and design methodologies for the translation of systems requirements from business needs with a proven track record.
  • Experience working in collaborative technical teams and participating in Agile or Scrum-based delivery environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engineering initiatives, adapt to changing priorities, and deliver high-quality technical solutions within a fast-paced enterprise environment


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting large-scale federal or enterprise IT environments.
  • Experienced with Veteran Affairs
  • Familiarity with endpoint security, compliance, or device management practices.
  • Exposure to enterprise deployment automation, scripting, or operational reporting tools.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional engineering or infrastructure initiatives.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, MD-102: Endpoint Administrator, Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate, Jamf Certified, ITIL Foundation, or equivalent technical certifications.

Clearance Requirement:

  • Willing and able to obtain and maintain Public Trust Clearance
  • Must meet updated ID requirements:
