Storage Automation Engineer

United Kingdom (Remote with visits)

Contract / Inside IR35 - Initially until the end of the year but likely to be extended.

Key Responsibilities
Storage Audit & Cleanup: Audit Linux NFS environments, identify duplicate/stale files, and liaise with team leads to archive or delete data.

Tooling & Codebase Development: Maintain and expand Python applications and PostgreSQL databases tracking storage metadata.

Proactive Alerting: Build custom Python scripts, REST APIs, and automated alerts (Grafana/Slack webhooks) for storage threshold warnings.

Requirements
Experience: 25 years in a Linux/Python engineering or DevOps role.

Development & DB: Solid Python scripting skills and proficiency with PostgreSQL / SQL.

Linux Systems: Strong hands-on Linux/NFS storage fundamentals (df, du, find, permissions, mounts).

Alerts & APIs: Experience building automated alerts, webhooks, or API endpoints.

Communication: Clear, tactful communication skills to coordinate data retention policies with stakeholders.
