Job description

Internet/Web Architect

Location: Tallahassee, FL | On-site

Introduction:

Defined Software Development is connecting with experienced Internet/Web Architects for current and upcoming consulting opportunities. This role translates business requirements into scalable web architectures and provides technical leadership for enterprise integration, application modernization, and digital transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather business requirements and translate them into web architecture and technical solutions.

  • Plan and design internet, intranet, and extranet architectures.

  • Define web server architecture and resolve integration issues between client and server applications.

  • Document architecture decisions, design assumptions, and performance considerations.

  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, quality assurance teams, and other stakeholders.

  • Provide technical leadership across complex projects and mentor junior technical staff.

  • Communicate architecture recommendations and technical trade-offs to business and technical audiences.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of IT experience demonstrating knowledge of architecture design, software development, database management, and systems integration.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent qualifying experience.

  • Experience serving as a project leader or subject matter expert across multiple projects.

  • Experience addressing medium- to high-complexity technical issues spanning multiple technologies and business areas.

  • Experience coaching and mentoring technical staff.

  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading legacy system replacement or enterprise modernization initiatives.

  • Experience designing hybrid solutions integrating on-premises systems, cloud services, and SaaS/COTS products.

  • Knowledge of JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue; HTML/CSS; REST APIs; and Node.js, .NET, or Java.

  • Familiarity with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud architecture patterns.

  • Strong understanding of data modeling, system interoperability, SDLC methodologies, and Waterfall delivery.

  • Experience developing architecture diagrams, transition roadmaps, and system interface designs.

  • Experience with application rationalization, technical debt reduction, and third-party solution evaluation.
