Job Description

  • Domain-Specific Engineering

MuleSoft Data Engineer

Informatica-to-Snowflake Migration

Location: Wilmington DE/Hybrid

Reports To: Data Engineering Manager / Practice Lead

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and inventory existing Informatica PowerCenter workflows (mappings, sessions, workflows) to determine migration complexity and prioritization.
  • Design and build MuleSoft Anypoint Platform integrations (APIs, connectors, DataWeave transformations) to replace legacy ETL/ELT and enable modern, event-driven and API-based data movement.
  • Re-engineer simple, high-volume Informatica load jobs into repeatable, metadata-driven migration patterns; design custom solutions for complex, high-transformation workflows.
  • Build and optimize data pipelines into Snowflake using native capabilities - COPY INTO, Snowpipe, Streams & Tasks, stored procedures, Snowpark, and OpenFlow - choosing the right tool for each ingestion and transformation pattern.
  • Migrate file-based, batch ingestion (e.g., S3 Snowflake) toward more real-time, event-driven, or API-based patterns where appropriate.
  • Partner with client architects and enterprise architecture teams to align solutions with MuleSoft and Snowflake platform standards.
  • Implement data quality, validation, and reconciliation checks to ensure migrated pipelines match legacy Informatica outputs.
  • Contribute to data governance efforts, including lineage documentation, metadata management, and use of AI-assisted tooling (e.g., Snowflake Cortex) to accelerate governance maturity.
  • Document migration patterns, runbooks, and best practices to support a scalable, repeatable delivery model across workflows and clients.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and technical trade-offs clearly to both technical stakeholders and business sponsors.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform (API design, DataWeave, connectors, orchestration).
  • Direct, hands-on experience migrating workflows from Informatica PowerCenter (or similar ETL tools) to a modern cloud data platform.
  • Strong working knowledge of Snowflake, including COPY INTO, Streams & Tasks, stored procedures, and performance/cost optimization.
  • Solid understanding of ETL/ELT concepts, data warehousing, and dimensional modeling.
  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting/programming language (e.g., Python, Java).
  • Experience with cloud storage and ingestion patterns, particularly AWS S3-based file landing and batch processing.
  • Familiarity with API-led connectivity and integration best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to reverse-engineer legacy mappings and translate business logic into modern pipelines.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort working directly with client stakeholders in a consulting or professional services environment.
Core Tools & Technologies
  • Integration: MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, DataWeave, APIs
  • Data Platform: Snowflake (COPY INTO, Snowpipe, Streams & Tasks, Snowpark, OpenFlow, Cortex)
  • Legacy ETL: Informatica PowerCenter
  • Cloud: AWS (S3, Glue)
  • Languages: SQL, Python and/or Java
  • Sources: Relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL), flat files, APIs
