BI Data Engineer

Introduction:

Vega Consulting Solutions is seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Engineer leader to enhance our Clients' enterprise analytics environment in Reston, Virginia. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technical expert capable of shaping data strategy, delivering reliable reporting, and collaborating with senior stakeholders to translate complex information into clear business direction. This role will involve influencing how analytics are governed, prioritized, and scaled, as well as expanding the use of AI-driven solutions across reporting and decision support.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and implementation of AI and Python solutions for business intelligence and data analytics
• Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and data teams to drive data-driven decision-making processes
• Create and maintain dashboards using tools such as Python, Power BI and Tableau to track product/feature performance
• Contribute to the expansion of AI-powered solutions for reporting and decision support
• Participate in data governance and ensure data quality and integrity
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in analytics and artificial intelligence

Requirements:

• Minimum of 10 years of overall IT/business intelligence/data analytics experience (8 years alone is NOT sufficient for this lead-level role)
• At least 3 years of specific experience in AI/Python development
• Proficiency in Python/AI engineering, including chatbot development and AI-powered search
• Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.
• Previous experience in product analytics and building dashboards to track performance metrics
• Preferred experience with AWS Cloud (not mandatory, but strongly desired)
• Agentic AI experience is a plus, or a strong background in AI/data engineering
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
