Maintenance Mechanical Engineer

Shift Mechanical Engineer Location:

Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospital Trust Sites Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (2 days (Apply online only) & 2 nights (Apply online only)) Rate: £16 - £25 per hour The Role We are currently recruiting for an experienced Shift Mechanical Engineer to join a busy healthcare estates maintenance team supporting a large NHS Trust estate, including the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital and associated healthcare facilities.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanical engineer with building services maintenance experience to work in a technically diverse environment where reliability, compliance and patient care are paramount.

Key Responsibilities Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on a range of mechanical systems.<br />Diagnose faults and undertake repairs to mechanical plant and equipment.<br />Respond to engineering breakdowns and emergency call-outs.<br />Monitor and respond to Building Management System (BMS) alerts.<br />Maintain heating, ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, water systems and associated mechanical plant.<br />Support minor installation, improvement and upgrade works.<br />Complete all maintenance documentation accurately and in a timely manner.<br />Work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines to ensure service delivery across the estate.<br />Adhere to all health and safety, infection control and site procedures.Requirements Recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent City &amp; Guilds qualification.<br />Minimum 3 years' post-apprenticeship maintenance experience.<br />Strong fault-finding and repair skills across a range of mechanical building services systems, including:<br />Ventilation systems<br />Heating systems<br />Boilers<br />Pumps<br />Compressors<br />Hot and cold water systems<br />Medical gas systems (desirable)<br />Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.<br />Good communication and customer service skills.<br />Full UK driving licence.Desirable Experience Previous NHS or healthcare estates maintenance experience.<br />Competent Person or Authorised Person experience.<br />Knowledge of electrical systems.What's on Offer Opportunity to work within a major NHS healthcare estate.<br />Long-term agency assignment with potential opportunities for extension.<br />Variety of work across modern healthcare facilities.<br />Supportive engineering team environment.<br />Ongoing training and development opportunities.Apply now if you are a qualified Mechanical Engineer looking for your next challenge within a prestigious healthcare environment.
