Network Operations Resident Engineer

The Resident Engineer will provide proactive and reactive support across a large-scale Juniper networks environment, acting as a trusted technical advisor for day-to-day operations, network transformation, lifecycle management, and critical infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide operational support across campus switching, routing, and wireless environments.
• Act as the main technical liaison between the customer and HPE Networking teams.
• Troubleshoot complex network incidents and coordinate escalations through support and engineering teams.
• Support network upgrades, migrations, technology refreshes, and infrastructure expansion.
• Develop implementation plans, rollback procedures, validation plans, and operational runbooks.
• Monitor network health, performance, and user experience and recommend improvements.
• Support hardware lifecycle, software upgrades, RMA activity, and production change events.
• Provide knowledge transfer, technical mentoring, and operational best-practice guidance.
• Identify opportunities for automation and operational improvement.

Core Technical Areas

• Campus Networking: EX and QFX switching, VLANs, STP, link aggregation, routing, multicast, high availability, EVPN/VXLAN.
• Routing: OSPF, BGP, Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking.
• Wireless: Mist Wireless Assurance, Mist Wired Assurance, and Marvis AI.
• Transformation: Large-scale network migrations, modernization, cloud-managed networking, testing, and service adoption.
• Troubleshooting: Root cause analysis, incident management, fault isolation, and cross-domain troubleshooting.

Required Experience

• 5+ years supporting large-scale enterprise network environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with enterprise switching, routing, and campus networking.
• Strong experience with EX Series and QFX Series platforms.
• Experience with Mist Wireless Assurance, Mist Wired Assurance, and Marvis AI.
• Experience supporting large-scale wireless deployments, migrations, and network upgrades.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Strong customer-facing communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to operate independently as a trusted technical advisor.
• Must be based and authorized to work in the United States.
