Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Systems Engineer 2 provides day-to-day Windows web server support for the DEWS environment, along with support for COTS tools and in-house applications. This role covers day-to-day monitoring, management, and support of back-end infrastructure services, hardware, and software, including Active Directory, client and server monitoring and management systems, IIS, F5, PKI hardware/software, and other web infrastructure technologies. The role also supports network performance management, security maintenance, evaluation of current networks, identification of deficiencies, and recommendations for performance improvements, and includes writing and managing scripts in the Windows environment. On-call support is required as needed.
Specifically, the Systems Engineer 2:
- Performs varied aspects of administering, operating, and maintaining Windows web servers.
- Provides mid-level support for managing COTS tools and in-house applications.
- Provides mid-level support managing web application infrastructure and load balancers, including day-to-day monitoring, management, and support of back-end infrastructure services, hardware, and software.
- Provides mid-level support addressing web application infrastructure tickets.
- Under general guidance, manages network performance and maintains security.
- Provides mid-level support managing PowerShell, Python, and other scripts in the Windows environment.
- Responds to production incidents and provides on-call support as needed - this role is crucial to the smooth operation of the customer's web infrastructure.

- Ability to document work in the help desk application and other tools.
Professional Certification(s): None required
Formal Education: Technical or college degree
Years of Professional Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the following areas:
- Managing Windows IIS server day-to-day support.
- Managing web application infrastructure.
- Administering, operating, maintaining, and securing software and COTS products.
- Working with computer network configurations, Windows Server operating systems, and the understanding of TCP/IP protocol.
- Providing on-call support.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the following areas:
- Deploying COTS applications in a client/server network environment.
- Troubleshooting web problems and providing solutions.
- Troubleshooting Windows/IIS application servers and in-house applications.
- Working knowledge of supporting a PKI environment.
- Creating Windows schedules, automation, and scripts.
