Job Description
Role Summary
This position leads and executes network switch migration and refresh initiatives within high-availability, mission-critical environments. The role is responsible for end-to-end hardware replacements, configuration, connectivity, and network validation while minimizing service disruption. This position requires strong technical expertise, independent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work within scheduled change windows.
Responsibilities
- Execute the replacement and migration of end-of-life Arista and Cisco network switches across data center and co-location environments.
- Manage and validate customized switch configurations within scheduled change windows.
- Maintain and troubleshoot external network connectivity to support reliable operations.
- Configure and troubleshoot BGP, multicast technologies including PIM, SSM, and IGMP, and Layer 2/3 networking protocols.
- Coordinate physical switch replacements, cabling, and hardware installation within data center and co-location environments.
- Execute migration activities in accordance with established change management, validation, and rollback procedures.
- Perform pre- and post-migration validation to confirm successful implementations and network functionality.
- Independently troubleshoot complex network issues and escalate when appropriate.
- Collaborate with external partners and internal engineering teams to coordinate network activities and communicate technical status.
- Document migration procedures, validation results, configurations, and troubleshooting activities to support operational continuity.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience with network hardware refreshes and migrations, particularly involving Arista switches such as the 7150, 7060, or 7130 series.
- Hands-on experience with BGP, multicast technologies including PIM, SSM, and IGMP, Layer 2/3 networking, and troubleshooting in production environments.
- Experience working within data center or co-location environments.
- Ability to perform physical switch replacements, cabling, and hardware troubleshooting.
- Strong knowledge of change management, network validation, rollback planning, and troubleshooting.
- Availability to work scheduled weekend change windows as required.
- Relevant education, training, certifications, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong technical communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Must be authorized to work in the location where the position is based.
Publishing Pay Range: $65.00 - $75.00 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
