Position Overview

GBSI is seeking an experienced SAP Digital Manufacturing Consultant to serve as a business key user and functional SME for SAP Digital Manufacturing and manufacturing execution processes.

The consultant will work closely with manufacturing stakeholders, SAP template teams, S/4HANA functional teams, and the local MES rollout team to translate business requirements into effective digital manufacturing processes.

The role requires a strong understanding of SAP Digital Manufacturing, MES processes, manufacturing operations, SAP S/4HANA integration, shop-floor processes, UAT, business requirements, data gaps, and user training.

Key Responsibilities

SAP Digital Manufacturing & MES

• Support the implementation and rollout of SAP Digital Manufacturing (SAP DM) across manufacturing operations.
• Act as a business key user and functional SME for SAP DM and MES-related processes.
• Work with local manufacturing teams to understand current processes and identify opportunities for standardization and improvement.
• Evaluate and select optimal business processes within SAP Digital Manufacturing.
• Support the integration and alignment of SAP DM with SAP S/4HANA and upstream/downstream manufacturing systems.
• Collaborate with SAP and MES teams to ensure end-to-end manufacturing process integration.
• Support local MES rollout activities and ensure successful adoption across manufacturing locations.
• Identify process, system, and data gaps impacting manufacturing execution.
• Coordinate with upstream SAP S/4HANA teams to resolve dependencies and close functional gaps.
• Support greenfield manufacturing teams by transferring knowledge and establishing standardized processes.

Business Requirements & Process Design

• Serve as a key business liaison between manufacturing users and the SAP template/implementation team.
• Gather, analyse, and document Business Requirements Documents (BRDs/BDRs).
• Translate manufacturing requirements into SAP Digital Manufacturing solutions and functional specifications.
• Evaluate existing manufacturing processes against the future-state SAP DM environment.
• Advocate for business needs while maintaining alignment with global template standards.
• Identify opportunities for process harmonization, optimization, and standardization.
• Participate in workshops with manufacturing stakeholders, SAP functional teams, and technical teams.

Testing & Validation

• Lead and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for SAP Digital Manufacturing processes.
• Develop and execute functional and business-process test scenarios.
• Work closely with business users to validate end-to-end manufacturing processes.
• Perform testing designed to identify process gaps, integration issues, and system defects.
• Document test results, defects, issues, and required corrective actions.
• Coordinate with SAP and technical teams to resolve identified issues.
• Support regression testing during subsequent releases and rollout phases.

Manufacturing Process & Data Support

• Analyze manufacturing master data and identify data quality or process gaps.
• Work with relevant SAP S/4HANA teams to address data dependencies.
• Support manufacturing process integration across production, materials, quality, and shop-floor operations.
• Ensure SAP DM processes support operational manufacturing requirements.
• Help manufacturing teams understand changes between legacy/MES processes and the new SAP environment.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 14+ years of experience in SAP, manufacturing systems, MES, or related enterprise manufacturing technology.
• Strong functional experience with SAP Digital Manufacturing (SAP DM).
• Hands-on experience supporting MES implementation, rollout, or manufacturing transformation initiatives.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing execution processes and shop-floor operations.
• Experience working with SAP S/4HANA in a manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of integration between SAP S/4HANA and SAP Digital Manufacturing / MES platforms.
• Experience working as a Business Key User, Functional Consultant, SME, or Business Process Lead.
• Strong experience with business requirements gathering and documentation.
• Experience preparing BRDs/BDRs, process flows, functional requirements, and business process documentation.
• Strong experience with UAT planning, execution, defect identification, and resolution.
• Experience identifying process, system, and data gaps.
• Experience collaborating with global template teams and local business stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including production execution and shop-floor operations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SAP Digital Manufacturing Cloud / SAP DM.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing.
• Experience with MES implementations or rollouts in automotive, industrial, heavy manufacturing, or discrete manufacturing environments.
• Experience supporting greenfield SAP implementations.
• Experience with SAP manufacturing modules such as:
• SAP PP
• SAP MM
• SAP QM
• SAP PM
• Experience with production master data and manufacturing integration.
• Experience working with SAP global templates and localization requirements.
• Experience developing training materials and conducting end-user training.
• Knowledge of SAP Activate methodology and agile delivery practices is a plus.
