Job title: Senior Data Engineer (Snowflake / AWS / SQL), Banking Marketing Analytics, Remote Contract
About the role
A large financial services company is building one data environment for its bank marketing team. It brings together finance, product, marketing and credit risk data so the team can see which campaigns are profitable and how they perform over time. You'll find the data, bring it in, and keep it reliable as the program grows.
What you'll do
  • Find and pull data from source-of-record assets in Snowflake
  • Build and maintain your own ETL pipelines
  • Work with partner data teams to resolve delays, data quirks and quality issues
  • Keep data accurate and well documented over time
Required
  • 6–8 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture or a similar role
  • Banking experience
  • Marketing data experience
  • Strong SQL
  • Python or SAS
  • AWS
  • Snowflake
Nice to have
  • Tableau or other visualization tools
  • AI experience
  • Credit risk data or data infrastructure experience
  • Prior experience at a large member-based financial institution

What They Want
  • Someone who ramps quickly and can dissect complex problems and build a story showing member pain points, the fix, and the benefit
  • Skills: SQL, Snowflake, Tableau (low priority), strong analytical and storytelling ability
  • Experience: 8-10 years ideal, but flexible. 4-5 years is okay if the candidate can speak to the experience well. No juniors (2-3 years)
  • USAA experience: a plus (bank preferred, enterprise okay)
Day-to-Day
  • Technical work: pull data (e.g., call and complaint volume), analyze the cause, and check for digital activity before members call
  • Hiring manager handles requirements gathering
  • Little dashboard building; AI tools generate reports from the output
Required
  • Strong SQL (live coding in interview)
  • Snowflake environment experience
  • SAS (live coding in interview)
  • Ability to break down complex problems and build a data story (pain point, fix, benefit)
  • Fast ramp-up; no runway for learning on the job
  • Senior-level experience (no juniors or 2-3 years)
  • KPI and metrics reporting
  • Setting baselines and alert thresholds
  • Summaries for executives
  • Payments or bill-pay knowledge
Preferred
  • 8-10 years of experience (flexible; 4-5 years okay if they can speak to the work well)
  • Previous USAA experience (bank ideal, enterprise okay)
  • Tableau (low priority)
  • Credit experience
  • Large bank or fintech background
  • Familiarity with AI tools for report generation
Logistics
  • Location: Plano preferred (4 days onsite, following team schedule); remote is the second option
  • Remote candidates: Central time zone preferred
  • Interview: one round with the manager and a couple of team members, including live coding (SQL/SAS). Tell candidates in advance
  • Team size: under 20 (9 analysts)
  • Budget: planned for 2027, but not guaranteed
Deadline
  • Submissions due Tuesday at noon Central
  • Submission limits are increased since there are 2 openings
  • Interviews to follow quickly
