Job Description

  - Role: Finance Data Design Lead (Data modeling, mapping, and design specifications)
  - Location: Remote (US-based; occasional travel for key workshops)
- Collaboration: Will work closely with Finance, GTS, Data & Analytics, enterprise architects, and partner development teams.
  - Key Requirements: Strong Pharma finance experience and SAP knowledge.

Role:

The role works between Finance and the technical teams, translating strategy and architecture into concrete designs for individual use cases and data products, starting with priority use cases and progressively building out the Finance data foundation for others to follow.

The value is in the detailed design work: defining the required data, models, relationships, mappings, business rules, controls and specifications that development teams can implement directly - and embedding best practices as you go.

The role works in close collaboration with the enterprise architects and operates within their standards and guidelines, and works across Finance, GTS, Data & Analytics and the relevant development teams.

Pharma Finance and SAP experience are essential. Project implementation is for a global biopharmaceutical company whose Finance landscape runs on SAP. The designer needs to have worked inside a pharma or life sciences Finance organization and in an SAP ecosystem.

Must-Have Qualifications

•         10+ years in data management, data warehousing and analytics, with a strong track record of detailed data design work on enterprise programs.

•         Finance domain depth: P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, spend and travel analytics, chart of accounts, cost and profit centers, hierarchies, multi-currency, period and close concepts.

•         Pharma / life sciences Finance experience: has delivered Finance data work for a pharmaceutical, biotech or life sciences company - for example R&D and clinical trial cost tracking, product, brand and market P&L, gross-to-net, intercompany and transfer pricing across global entities, and Finance controls in a GxP- and SOX-regulated environment.

•         SAP ecosystem experience: has worked in an SAP-centric Finance landscape and knows SAP FI/CO data (ECC and/or S/4HANA) in depth - GL and Universal Journal (ACDOCA), cost and profit centers, internal orders, WBS, company codes and hierarchies - including bringing SAP Finance data into a warehouse or lakehouse.

•         Strong data modeling skills - conceptual, logical and physical; dimensional and normalized; able to defend grain, keys and structure decisions.

•         Proven experience producing source-to-target mappings, business rules and build-ready specifications that development teams implement successfully.

•         Working knowledge of Databricks and lakehouse design - medallion layering, Delta, Unity Catalog - sufficient to design for the platform and review implementation.

•         Experience defining data quality, reconciliation and control requirements for financial data.

•         Experience working within enterprise architecture standards and governance in a large organization.

•         Excellent facilitation and communication: comfortable in a Finance workshop and in a technical design review on the same day.

•         US-based with valid US work authorization, and able to work US business hours.

Nice to Have

•         SAP BW / BW/4HANA, SAP Datasphere or SAP Analytics Cloud, and SAP-to-Databricks extraction tooling or patterns.

•         Exposure to planning or EPM data - TM1 / IBM Planning Analytics, Oracle EPM, Anaplan or similar.

•         Concur, Agiloft or comparable enterprise SaaS source experience.

•         Master data management exposure - Reltio, Informatica MDM, ServiceNow - including data definition and stewardship models.

•         Power BI semantic modeling and finance reporting design.

•         Data modeling tooling (erwin, SQLDBM or similar) and metadata or catalog tooling.

•         Experience in a consulting or client-facing delivery environment.
