Data Scientist III with Security Clearance

Position Title: Data Scientist III Location: Arlington, VA - Hybrid (Candidates must reside in the DC Metro area and report to the Arlington, VA office twice per pay period.) Clearance Requirements: Public Trust Clearance (Candidates must be eligible to obtain a Position of Public Trust clearance.) Position Status: Contract Position Description: Seneca Resources is seeking an experienced Data Scientist III to support advanced data analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and business intelligence initiatives in a complex enterprise environment.

This role is ideal for a data science professional who enjoys transforming structured and unstructured data into actionable insights, developing scalable analytical solutions, and communicating complex findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders. The Data Scientist will work across data engineering, analytics, visualization, AI/ML, and cloud technologies to develop solutions that support investigative, audit, research, and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Extract, clean, transform, normalize, validate, and analyze structured and unstructured data from multiple enterprise sources.
• Design and develop data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and predictive analytics solutions, including model development, training, testing, evaluation, refinement, deployment, and maintenance.
• Develop interactive data visualizations, dashboards, reports, and analytical products using tools such as Power BI and related business intelligence platforms.
• Apply advanced analytical techniques including machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), text mining, data mining, statistical modeling, pattern recognition, optimization, and simulation.
• Develop and optimize data solutions using SQL, Python, R, JavaScript, relational databases, data warehouses, data lakes, and data lakehouse environments.
• Build and support ETL/ELT pipelines, data integration processes, data quality frameworks, and analytical datasets.
• Leverage cloud technologies including AWS, Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Data Factory, Data Lake, and Data Lakehouse services.
• Translate business and technical requirements into data models, analytical solutions, technical designs, prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and production-ready implementations.
• Analyze data to identify trends, relationships, anomalies, patterns, and actionable insights that support business, audit, investigative, and operational decisions.
• Work with stakeholders, business owners, database administrators, developers, and IT teams to define requirements, resolve data issues, and deliver analytics solutions.
• Develop comprehensive technical documentation, including requirements, methodologies, data sources, test plans, technical diagrams, user guides, and training materials.
• Troubleshoot, enhance, test, debug, and document existing analytical applications, dashboards, models, and data products.
• Apply data governance, security, quality, access, and continuity-of-operations practices throughout the data analytics lifecycle.
• Present analytical findings, technical briefings, training materials, and project updates to technical teams, leadership, stakeholders, and larger audiences.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to colleagues on data science methodologies, analytical tools, data quality, data access, and emerging technologies.

Required Skills/Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of professional experience developing data science solutions using programming and scripting languages such as Python, SQL, R, and JavaScript.
• 3+ years of experience applying machine learning, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, robotic process automation, text/data mining, statistical modeling, or advanced mathematical methods.
• 6+ months of experience working with cloud data platforms or services such as AWS, Azure, Databricks, Data Factory, Data Lake, or Data Lakehouse.
• Strong experience with relational databases, SQL querying, data modeling, data warehousing, and data integration.
• Experience developing Power BI dashboards, reports, visualizations, and analytical solutions, including familiarity with DAX and Power Query/M.
• Experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT strategies, data pipelines, data transformations, data validation, and data quality processes.
• Demonstrated ability to transform complex datasets into meaningful business insights and actionable recommendations.
• Experience working with both structured and unstructured data and applying appropriate analytical, statistical, or machine learning techniques.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, debugging, deployment, and documentation.
• Strong technical writing, documentation, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
