Human Resources Generalist


Location: Western Architectural Openings, Phoenix, AZ

Compensation Range: $67,000.00 - $86,000.00

Job Summary

The Human Resources Generalist serves as a key partner to leaders and team members by supporting a positive workplace culture, ensuring compliance with company policies and employment laws, and driving employee engagement and organizational effectiveness. This role provides comprehensive HR support across employee relations, compliance, HR operations, onboarding, benefits administration, employee engagement, and performance management.

The ideal candidate possesses strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, demonstrates sound judgment and professionalism, and has experience managing sensitive and highly confidential employee relations matters in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for leaders and team members regarding workplace concerns, conflict resolution, performance management, and policy interpretation.

  • Conduct employee relations investigations and provide recommendations based on findings.

  • Support corrective action processes, documentation, and performance improvement plans.

  • Partner with leadership to foster a respectful, inclusive, and positive workplace culture.

  • Provide guidance on attendance, conduct, workplace accommodations, and leave administration.

  • Promote proactive communication and employee engagement initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.

  • Assist with policy development, implementation, and communication efforts.

  • Partner with leadership to mitigate organizational and employee relations risk.

  • Oversee onboarding, orientation, and offboarding processes.

  • Maintain employee records and HRIS transactions within Workday and related systems.

  • Support performance management and talent development initiatives.

  • Participate in HR projects, training programs, and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Analyze HR trends and provide recommendations to leadership.

  • Support payroll processing by collecting and verifying timekeeping information.

  • Assist team members with benefits enrollment and related inquiries.

  • Serve as a point of contact for team member questions, concerns, and HR-related support.

  • Partner with the HR team to plan and execute employee engagement, team-building, and recognition programs.

  • Provide administrative support to the HR Manager and Human Resources department.

  • Prepare HR reports, presentations, and other documentation as needed.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations principles and HR best practices.

  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, EEO, wage and hour regulations, harassment prevention, and workplace accommodations.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Effective problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.

  • Experience utilizing HRIS systems; Workday experience preferred.

  • Ability to build productive relationships with leaders and team members at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to analyze HR data and identify trends that support business decisions.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience, preferably in a manufacturing or multi-site environment.

  • Experience supporting employee relations investigations and resolving workplace issues.

  • Experience administering HR programs, policies, and procedures.

  • Experience with benefits administration, leave management, and HR compliance.

  • Experience using Workday or similar Human Resources Information Systems preferred.

  • Professional HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) is a plus.

  • Ability to travel occasionally for training, meetings, or business-related activities as needed.

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and interact regularly with production and office team members.

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the office and production areas during the workday.

  • Ability to support flexible work schedules as business needs require.

  • No supervisory responsibilities.
