Job Description
Job Summary:
The Financial Controller will work closely with the various departments to ensure that departmental costs are under control and as per the allocated budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost monitoring/cost control:
- Review departmental spends, analyse variance against budgets, identify cost inefficiencies and leakages and work with departments to have these improved
Business case analysis:
- Prepare business case for various departmental initiatives and spends and approve/reject the proposals basis the business case. Depending on the complexity, this will involve varying degrees of excel modelling.
- Also, for all approved cases have periodic reviews to substantiate that the case holds true post implementation
Contract/PO reviews:
- All contracts entered by the department/company are reviewed by controllers to identify any potential financial risk and adherence to business case assumptions. No contract is signed unless approved by controller
Budgeting:
- Controllers work with departments to create departmental budget. Controllers play key role to identify any flab in budget as well as any instance of under budgeting
- SPOC for any finance department need of department
- Controllers review and approve all policies that have any financial impact
- Controllers are also involved in salary structuring especially of operational staff
Required Skills and Experience:
- B-School graduates with 2 years experience before or after MBA/CA degree
- Accounting and auditing experience can be an added advantage
- Should be well versed with accounting principles
- Should constantly look for ways to improve efficiency of company's processes and procedures
- Ensure proper compliance maintained by the company with all regulatory bodies
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent command over Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Good Analytical skills
Good to Have:
Knowledge on ERP system can be an added advantage
Educational Qualifications:
MBA in Finance or a Chartered Accountant
