Cost Estimator

Position Summary

As a Cost Estimator, you will develop accurate cost estimates and execution plans for large-scale dredging projects, working closely with a team experienced in enterprise project execution. This role offers significant exposure to senior management and various opportunities for professional advancement. The position reports to the Vice President of Estimating.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce precise cost estimates for large-scale bidding projects.


• Review and extract key details from project plans and specifications.


• Create clear and concise overview drawings for presentations and discussions.


• Present project estimates during bid review sessions with senior management.


• Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills during estimate development.


• Collaborate effectively with support departments within a team environment.


• Manage multiple project tasks efficiently, prioritizing effectively.


• Provide estimating support to on-site Project Managers during project execution.


• Continuously monitor and update project costs, production metrics, and budgets throughout construction.


• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent combined with relevant work experience.


• At least one of the following:
  
  
  
  • 3 years of relevant experience in the dredging or marine construction industry.
  
  
  • 5 years of relevant experience in a cost estimating role within a comparable industry.
  
  
  
  


• Experience with marine construction projects such as ports, channels, waterways, coastal restoration, beach nourishment, or shoreline protection.


• Familiarity with dredging equipment including hopper dredges, cutter suction dredges, mechanical dredges, barges, tugs, or similar marine equipment.


• Field engineering experience involving quantities, production tracking, daily reports, surveying, material tracking, or project planning support.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard Office Suite programs, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.


• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and evaluation skills with the ability to interpret technical data.


• Excellent communication, listening, and attention to detail.


• Self-motivated with a willingness to learn about dredging operations and cost estimating.


• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.


• Willingness and ability to travel occasionally for training purposes.


• Experience with Power BI or similar analytical software is a plus.


• Ability to work a hybrid schedule of four days in the office and one remote day.

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional experience utilizing analytical software or tools related to project data analysis.
