Site Reliability Engineer - Data & Caching Systems

RESPONSIBILITIES

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer - Data & Caching Systems in Foster City, CA.

Overview

We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to support large-scale AI infrastructure and next-generation data storage initiatives. This team manages petabyte-scale, clustered on-premises storage environments and is building distributed storage and caching platforms designed for high-performance data access and global scalability.

Responsibilities

• Onboard users to a distributed caching platform, assisting with application integration and validation
• Scale and operate global caching infrastructure through automation and Infrastructure as Code
• Enhance system monitoring, observability, and alerting capabilities
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and support software release processes
• Create and maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks
• Track, document, and report software issues using standard ticketing and collaboration tools
• Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve system issues
• Optionally contribute code fixes and enhancements to the platform

REQUIREMENTS

• 2+ years of experience supporting and operating distributed systems or services
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, SaltStack, or similar technologies
• Experience with monitoring, observability, and alerting platforms such as Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Zabbix, OpsGenie, or equivalent
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify issues across infrastructure and application layers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong desire to learn new technologies and continuously improve processes
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and long-term initiatives simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Python, C++, Rust, or similar programming languages
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and software delivery pipelines
• Exposure to large-scale storage, caching, or data platform environments

• Automation & IaC: Terraform, Ansible, SaltStack, Spacelift
• Observability: OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Zabbix, OpsGenie
• CI/CD & DevOps: GitHub, Buildkite, Bamboo, Bazel
• Collaboration & Tracking: Jira, Confluence
• Development: Python, C++, Rust

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
