Spring Boot/PostgreSQL/AWS - Remote - £60,000 - HealthTech

My client is an established UK-based HealthTech organisation and are looking for a Senior Java Engineer to build new product. This is a hands-on role, in an environment where Senior Developers still code end-to-end, work out the design, model the data, build the API and business logic, persist it properly, test it, review it with the team, and help get it safely into production.

What you'll be doing

• Building new features on a live Java/Spring Boot SaaS platform, working with product, design and clinical colleagues
• Designing REST APIs, domain models and PostgreSQL schemas
• Writing clean, well-tested code (unit and integration tests are part of the job, not an afterthought)
• Investigating and fixing production and client-reported issues
• Reviewing code and mentoring junior developers while staying hands-on
• Improving an existing platform pragmatically, rather than redesigning it from scratch

What you'll bring

• 5+ years of commercial Java development, with recent experience building application features and business logic for a product
• Strong core Java fundamentals: OO design, collections, exceptions, immutability, concurrency basics
• Solid Spring Boot experience across MVC, Data JPA/Hibernate and Spring Security
• Good SQL skills: schema design, indexes, transactions, and diagnosing slow queries (PostgreSQL ideal)
• Developer-level AWS experience, meaning you understand how your application runs in the cloud
• A clear understanding of security best practice
• Experience owning features from requirement through to production
• Good communication skills and a collaborative approach
