Job Description

Software Engineer in Test-Hardware Validation

Introduction: The Software Engineer in Test-Hardware Validation will be responsible for writing and maintaining test software in Swift/Python for hardware validation harnesses. They will use AI/LLM tools for debugging, log analysis, and test scenario generation. This role will involve working closely with hardware test equipment and collaborating with engineering teams to ensure product quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Write and maintain test software in Swift/Python for hardware validation harnesses
  • Use AI/LLM tools to accelerate debugging, log analysis, and test scenario generation
  • Reproduce, isolate, and document failures across hardware test runs
  • Set up and maintain hardware test harnesses and lab equipment
  • File detailed bug reports and communicate findings to engineering teams
  • Maintain test documentation and propose new validation approaches

Requirements:

Must-Have Skills:

  • Swift and/or Python with solid OOP – design patterns and clean code required
  • AI/LLM tools for active debugging – Claude for log analysis and failure diagnosis
  • Hardware lab willingness – daily work with test racks, harnesses, and bench equipment
  • Systematic troubleshooting across software and hardware interaction layers
  • Command line proficiency – scripting, process inspection, toolchain execution

Preferred Skills:

  • Hardware/firmware testing experience – test harnesses, validation rigs, or embedded environments
  • macOS familiarity – Xcode or Instruments a plus
  • Computer architecture & power management fundamentals
  • Test framework development experience
  • Data analysis – pandas, matplotlib, or similar

Education:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, or related field – required

Location: Austin, TX (5 days in office)
