Job Description
Are you an experienced HR professional who enjoys working closely with managers, solving complex people challenges and making a real difference to the employee experience? We are looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join the People Team of a successful and evolving organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, operational environment and who can combine strong technical HR knowledge with a practical, approachable style.
Working closely with the HR Business Partners and wider People Team, you will play an important role in delivering the people strategy, supporting managers and helping to embed a positive culture aligned to the company's values. About the role
A key focus of the role will be providing high-quality HR advice and support to managers and colleagues across a range of employee relations and wider people matters.
You will build strong relationships with managers, coaching and supporting them through often complex and sensitive situations, while ensuring that advice is consistent with company policies, employment legislation and best practice. The role will support colleagues across several locations, so the ability and willingness to travel between sites will be important. Key responsibilities
Provide timely, accurate and pragmatic HR advice and support to managers and colleagues, ensuring compliance with company policies and employment legislation.
Coach and support managers through informal and formal employee relations processes, including absence, investigations, disciplinary and grievance matters, performance improvement and appeals. Support managers in dealing with health and wellbeing matters sensitively and appropriately, working closely with Occupational Health, SHEQ and other wellbeing providers where required. Maintain accurate records of employee relations cases and provide management information to help managers monitor and improve team performance.
Proactively identify and manage potential people-related risks, escalating issues appropriately and working closely with the HR Business Partners. Work with the HRBPs to identify opportunities to improve people policies, processes and systems. Support organisational change projects and wider People Team initiatives. Deliver HR briefings, training and coaching to managers and colleagues on HR policies and procedures. Support and develop People Service Assistants in responding to contractual and lower-level employee relations queries.
Build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels, including Trade Union representatives. Promote a positive, inclusive and safe working environment. You will be an experienced HR professional with a strong background in employee relations and a sound understanding of UK employment legislation. You will be confident dealing with complex and sometimes sensitive situations and have the communication skills and emotional intelligence to coach managers through difficult conversations.
We are looking for someone who is
CIPD Level 5 qualified or above, or able to demonstrate equivalent experience. Experienced in managing complex employee relations casework across a broad range of issues. Confident interpreting and applying employment legislation and keeping up to date with legislative developments. Comfortable facilitating and mediating difficult and sensitive conversations. A strong communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the confidence to deliver training and briefings. Able to build trusted relationships and influence managers and stakeholders at all levels.
Commercial, pragmatic and solutions-focused, with the ability to balance risk with the needs of the organisation. Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable working with HR data, management information and people management systems. Competent in Microsoft Office applications. Approachable, flexible and resilient, with a genuine commitment to delivering a positive colleague experience.
