About the Role

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to take ownership of our day-to-day Accounts Payable and procure-to-pay processes while also playing an important role in month-end close and financial control.

This is not purely an invoice-processing role. You will own the AP process from purchase request, PO and contract through to invoice, payment and reconciliation, while ensuring costs are accurately reflected in the accounts through accruals, prepayments and balance-sheet reconciliations. What you’ll be doing

  • Own the end-to-end Accounts Payable and procure-to-pay process across multiple entities and currencies.

  • Process, code and post supplier invoices accurately and on time, ensuring correct entity, ledger and tax coding.

  • Ensure all supplier invoices are supported by approved purchase orders and follow the appropriate approval process.

  • Reconcile supplier statements, investigate discrepancies and resolve outstanding or aged items.

  • Act as the key point of contact for purchasing processes, supporting employees and driving PO compliance across the business.

  • Review new and renewal supplier contracts, ensuring appropriate budgets, approvals, financial controls and purchasing processes are in place.

  • Prepare and reconcile supplier payment runs across multiple entities, bank accounts and currencies.

  • Review and process employee expenses and corporate card transactions, ensuring compliance with company policy and tax requirements.

  • Take ownership of month-end AP activities, including accruals, prepayments, ledger reviews and reporting accuracy.

  • Drive financial controls, process improvements and automation initiatives to improve compliance, visibility of spend and month-end efficiency.

Skills We Need for This Role

  • 2–4 years’ experience in Accounts Payable, Assistant Accountant or a similar finance role.

  • Experience managing or contributing to an end-to-end procure-to-pay process.

  • Experience working with purchase orders, supplier contracts and recurring software expenditure.

  • Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles.

  • Experience preparing accruals and prepayments.

  • Experience completing balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Good understanding of VAT and indirect tax principles.

  • Strong Excel skills and confidence using accounting, ERP and purchasing systems.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a high-volume environment.

  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to challenge processes, influence stakeholders and drive continuous improvement.
