Naval Architect | Fairfax, VA, United States | On-site

We're hiring on behalf of a highly respected government contractor with a long-standing legacy of supporting national defense through advanced technology and innovative solutions. The Role

  • Design and analyze hovercraft, ships, and other maritime systems for military and commercial clients.
  • Conduct computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element analyses (FEA) to optimize design and assess performance.
  • Collaborate with project teams, including engineers and program managers, to validate designs and develop deliverables.
  • Manage task requirements and execution timelines, developing Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms).
  • Document technical findings in comprehensive reports and present results to diverse stakeholders.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in naval architecture, with a focus on CFD applications.
  • Proficiency in CFD software (e.g., Star-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM) and FEA software (e.g., Femap, NASTRAN, ANSYS).
  • Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, hydrodynamics, and maritime systems.
  • Experience with CAD and 3D modeling tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and presentations.
  • Ability to utilize spreadsheets for design equations and validate simulation results with experimental data.
