Data Platform Engineer

Our Technology team is looking for a Data Platform Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and evolving Perth Airport's Microsoft Fabric Data Platform, ensuring it is stable, reliable, scalable, and secure to meet the business's growing needs, along with the following:

What you'll do:

• Oversee the operation, optimisation, and security of the Microsoft Fabric Data Platform
• Design, manage, and optimise data pipelines, storage, and compute resources to support analytics, reporting, and APIs
• Collaborate with analysts, engineers, business teams, and vendors to improve data delivery and usability
• Implement standards for data quality, governance, documentation, and access control
• Monitor system health, costs, and performance, applying improvements to maximise efficiency
• Provide training and support to strengthen data literacy and self-service capability across the airport
• Ensure compliance with WHS and data governance requirements, protecting sensitive and regulated information

About you:

• A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of experience designing, building, and managing data platforms and data product workloads
• Strong skills in Python, SQL and cloud-native data integration
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Fabric + Data Engineering/Data Science workloads
• Experience working within a critical infrastructure environment is highly desirable
• Proven experience building and managing resilient data pipelines across ERP, IoT, and SaaS applications
• Strong knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks
• Experience with Agile, ITIL, and DevOps practices
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate across teams and explain technical concepts clearly
• A problem-solver who can adapt in a fast paced environment while maintaining focus and integrity
