The Opportunity

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join their facilities and maintenance team at a large industrial building in Durham.

This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, offering the chance to secure a long-term permanent position with an established organisation.

The Role

As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day electrical maintenance of the building and associated facilities.

  • Diagnosing electrical faults and carrying out repairs

  • Maintaining electrical systems and building services

  • Carrying out lighting repairs and replacements

  • Maintaining sockets, switches, distribution boards and other electrical infrastructure

  • Supporting general building maintenance where required

  • Ensuring all works are completed safely and to a high standard

  • Completing maintenance records and reporting any issues identified

  • Working in line with health & safety procedures and site requirements

This role is focused on building maintenance and electrical infrastructure rather than machinery, production equipment or industrial electrical engineering.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience as an Electrical Engineer / Electrician

  • Experience within commercial, industrial or facilities/building maintenance

  • Good knowledge of electrical building services

  • Experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance

  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage day-to-day maintenance requirements

  • Good communication and organisational skills

  • Relevant electrical qualifications, ideally 18th Edition

  • A recognised electrical qualification such as NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds

If you're an experienced electrician or electrical engineer looking for a Monday-to-Friday temp-to-perm position focused on building maintenance, we'd like to hear from you.
