Job Title: Wintel Lead
Location: Newport Beach, CA ( office 3 days a week)
Duration:  Long Term Contract
Job Description – Infrastructure Developer Administrator Windows, VMware & Virtualization (Nutanix)
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server Administration (2019 & above) with expertise in Cluster Configuration, DHCP, DNS, Failover, GPOs etc. Proficiency in VMware vCenter Server Administration (vSphere) with hands-on experience in ESXi hosts management.
Location: Newport Beach
Primary Function:
Administrator for Windows & Virtualization is accountable for the stability, performance, and operational integrity of the Windows Server ecosystem and Nutanix platform across all regions. This role owns complex issue resolution, platform engineering quality, and the standardization of operational practices globally. Unlike the Sys Admin role, this position is responsible for technical leadership, cross region consistency, and eliminating variability in execution across shifts.
Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Own global health and performance of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Nutanix clusters.
  • Resolve complex incidents involving clustering, hypervisor, and OS level failures.
  • Validate and standardize runbooks for VM lifecycle, cluster operations, and failover scenarios.
  • Ensure consistent execution of patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management across regions.
  • Drive automation of provisioning and operational tasks (e.g., Infrastructure as Code).
  • Participate in follow the sun handoffs ensuring active incidents and engineering issues are fully transferred with no loss of context.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on platform outages and systemic failures.
  • Design, deploy, and manage virtualized Windows servers using VMware technology.
  • Monitor server performance, identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Implement and maintain security protocols for Windows servers and virtual machines.
  • Install and configure software applications and updates.
  • Perform routine backups and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Collaborate with other IT staff and business stakeholders to ensure server infrastructure is meeting the needs of the organization.
  • Provide end-user support for Windows server-related issues as needed.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Security & Compliance:
  • Implement Microsoft security best practices across Windows, AD, and Exchange environments.
  • Manage Windows Server hardening and security baseline compliance.
  • Support vulnerability assessments and remediation activities.
  • Implement identity security controls including MFA, Conditional Access, Privileged Access Management (PAM), and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
  • Ensure adherence to organizational security, audit, and compliance requirements.
Backup, Recovery & Business Continuity:
  • Manage backup and recovery solutions for Windows, AD, Exchange, and virtual infrastructure.
  • Conduct regular restoration testing and disaster recovery drills.
  • Ensure infrastructure compliance with organizational RPO/RTO objectives.
  • Support business continuity planning and execution.
Automation & Infrastructure Modernization:
  • Develop automation using PowerShell, Desired State Configuration (DSC), and scripting frameworks.
  • Support Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), configuration management, and cloud integration initiatives.
  • Assist in cloud migration and hybrid infrastructure transformation projects.
  • Implement operational automation and service optimization initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Collaborate with Security, Cloud, Network, Application, and Service Delivery teams.
  • Support audits, customer reviews, governance meetings, and compliance assessments.
  • Mentor junior administrators and provide technical leadership.
Qualifications and Experience:
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (degree, training, or certification required)
BE/B-Tech or equivalent with Computer Science or Electronics & Communication
  • Minimum 8–12 years of experience managing enterprise Windows Server environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Identity Services.
  • Experience administering Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft 365 messaging platforms.
  • Extensive experience with VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V & Nutanix virtualization platforms.
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud and hybrid identity environments.
  • Experience in enterprise managed services and 24x7 operations environments.
  • Strong exposure to automation, monitoring, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical capabilities.
  • Customer-focused and service-oriented approach.
