Senior GCP Data Engineer

My client is a Big Four consulting firm, looking for a hands on GCP data architect to join their Data & AI practice. You'll lead the design and delivery of enterprise scale data platforms built on BigQuery, dbt and Airflow, shaping cloud data warehouses and ELT pipelines that are reliable, scalable and easy for teams to actually use. You'll also have a seat at the table shaping governance, security, performance and cost optimisation on Google Cloud. This is a senior, client-facing role for someone who wants influence, not just execution.

What you'll be doing:

• Leading architecture decisions across GCP native data platforms


• Setting dbt standards, reusable models and testing/deployment practices


• Guiding teams on SQL, data modelling and modern architecture patterns


• Partnering with business and tech stakeholders on governance, security, performance and cost

What you'll need:

• 5+ years in data architecture, engineering or cloud data platform design


• Advanced SQL, strong hands on BigQuery experience at scale


• Proven delivery of enterprise scale GCP data solutions


• Deep dbt experience - modelling, ELT, testing, docs, CI/CD


• Strong BigQuery, dbt and Airflow build/automation experience


• Exposure to Dataflow, Data Fusion, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Vertex AI


• Strong Python skills for scalable data solutions


• GCP certifications (Professional Cloud Architect / Data Engineer) highly regarded

This is an initial 6 month Contract role, with possibility of extension. Candidates must be Sydney based, and have full working rights. Ideally you are available for an immediate start!
