Job description

Are you curious about the stories behind the headlines?

Do you love researching interesting topics, spotting trends, and turning complex information into stories people actually want to read, hear and share?

Ogilvy PR is looking for a curious, creative, and highly motivated Content Producer – Consumer Finance to join our team on a full-time basis, working directly with a leading financial services client.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone early in their career who is passionate about news, media, and storytelling, and wants to build skills across content creation, earned media, and communications.

You don't need to be a finance expert or an experienced producer. What matters most is your curiosity, research skills, writing ability, and instinct for finding an interesting story.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

You'll work closely with a senior client leader and spokesperson, alongside the client's Corporate Communications team and Ogilvy PR, to uncover the stories behind what's happening in Australians' financial lives.

From emerging consumer trends and economic developments to research findings and everyday money challenges, you'll help turn data, insights and complex topics into clear, engaging and relevant stories for mainstream audiences.

You'll gain hands-on experience developing content and story ideas across broadcast, radio, podcasts, social and earned media, while learning how to identify opportunities, develop compelling narratives, and bring a spokesperson's expertise to life.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Research and uncover stories

  • Keep up with Australian news, consumer trends, banking, economics and financial wellbeing.
  • Dig into research, reports, data, and consumer conversations to identify emerging trends and interesting story angles.
  • Spot opportunities to turn complex developments into relevant, relatable stories for everyday Australians.
  • Monitor media coverage, competitor activity, and emerging conversations to identify opportunities for standout content.

Create compelling content

  • Research and develop story ideas, talking points, briefing materials and scripts for broadcast, radio, podcasts, social and earned media.
  • Work with a senior spokesperson to bring their expertise and perspective to life through engaging commentary and content.
  • Translate research and data into clear, accessible stories that resonate with mainstream audiences.
  • Fact-check information and ensure content is accurate, timely and aligned with brand and compliance requirements.

Support research and insights

  • Review quantitative and qualitative research to uncover meaningful consumer insights and changing behaviours.
  • Help develop survey questions and research ideas that could lead to interesting stories.
  • Build your understanding of key Australian economic and financial information sources, including the ABS, RBA, Treasury and ASIC.

Plan and amplify content

  • Help maintain an editorial calendar covering key announcements, research releases, seasonal moments, and consumer trends.
  • Prepare background notes, key facts, and supporting materials for spokesperson opportunities.
  • Work with the earned media team to identify how strong stories can be extended across different channels and formats.
  • Bring fresh ideas, examples, and perspectives to the team.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

We're looking for someone with up to 12 months of relevant experience, whether through study, internships, placements, or early professional experience. You will have:

  • A strong writer's instinct: You enjoy writing, researching and making complex topics easy to understand.
  • Natural curiosity: You're interested in news, media, culture and the issues affecting Australian consumers.
  • A nose for a story: You want to understand what's happening, why it matters and how to turn it into a story that connects with everyday Australians.

If you're a curious thinker, a strong communicator and someone who loves finding the story others might miss, we'd love to hear from you.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE OGILVY:

  • Leading AI tools – Exclusive access to WPP Open, our global AI platform.
  • Inclusive culture – A workplace where everyone can belong and thrive.
  • Career development – Personalised growth plans, coaching and ongoing learning opportunities.
