Job Description:
Position Overview:
Client is seeking a senior Enterprise Architect to help define, govern, and evolve the organization's enterprise technology architecture. This is a strategic, cross-functional architecture role for an experienced technology leader with a strong foundation in infrastructure and networking and the breadth to operate across the full enterprise technology landscape.
The ideal candidate has progressed from an infrastructure/networking background into enterprise architecture at large-scale organizations and understands how infrastructure, networking, security, cloud, applications, integrations, data, and enterprise platforms work together.
This is primarily a hands-off architecture and governance position rather than a hands-on engineering or development role. The Enterprise Architect will spend approximately 95% of their time on architecture documentation, technical artifacts, solution reviews, governance, stakeholder engagement, standards, and architectural decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain enterprise architecture standards, principles, reference architectures, roadmaps, and technical guardrails.
  • Lead architecture reviews for complex enterprise technology initiatives from concept through implementation.
  • Evaluate proposed solutions, designs, technology platforms, vendor solutions, SOWs, and technical approaches.
  • Review architecture artifacts and ensure solutions align with enterprise standards, technology strategy, security requirements, and long-term organizational objectives.
  • Partner with infrastructure, networking, security, application, data, integration, cloud, and engineering teams to ensure architectural alignment.
  • Ask the right technical questions, identify risks and dependencies, and challenge proposed designs when appropriate.
  • Serve as the connective point across technical disciplines while allowing specialized engineering teams to own detailed implementation.
  • Create and maintain architecture documentation, diagrams, standards, decision records, roadmaps, and other technical artifacts.
  • Establish appropriate architectural guardrails while providing flexibility for project and engineering teams.
  • Facilitate architecture governance discussions with senior technical and business stakeholders.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear recommendations and documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Identify opportunities to improve enterprise technology consistency, scalability, resiliency, security, and operational effectiveness.
  • Track architectural decisions and ensure agreed-upon standards and requirements are incorporated throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with principal engineers, technical leads, project teams, and organizational leadership to drive initiatives through successful delivery.
Required Qualifications:
  • Significant experience in Enterprise Architecture within large, complex organizations.
  • Strong foundation in infrastructure and networking architecture.
  • Demonstrated progression from infrastructure/networking roles into broader enterprise architecture responsibilities.
  • Broad understanding across multiple IT domains, including:
  • Infrastructure and data center technologies
  • Networking and connectivity
  • Security
  • Cloud technologies
  • Enterprise applications
  • Data and analytics
  • Integrations and APIs
  • Enterprise platforms and services
  • Experience developing architecture standards, reference architectures, roadmaps, governance processes, and technical guardrails.
  • Experience conducting architecture/design reviews and evaluating complex technology solutions.
  • Strong documentation and technical artifact development skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with principal engineers and subject-matter experts across multiple technology disciplines.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, facilitation, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to understand complex technical environments without needing to personally implement or code every solution.
  • Experience driving architecture initiatives from initial concept through implementation and delivery.
