Job Description
The Sr. Manager, Benefits, is responsible for the administration, compliance, and service delivery of Eataly’s health, welfare, and retirement programs for team members across the United States and Canada. This role oversees the ongoing management and governance of benefit programs, including self-funded health plans, retirement plans, open enrollment, vendor relationships, and day-to-day benefit operations.
- Manage the enhancement, implementation, and maintenance of all Health and retirement programs, which include 401k and Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation (NQDC) plans.
- Evaluate plan design, utilization, cost trends, employee demographics, and market competitiveness to identify opportunities for plan optimization and cost management.
- Lead the annual renewal and open enrollment process, including plan design recommendations, vendor negotiations, employee communications, systems configuration, testing, and implementation.
- Manage relationships with benefit vendors (i.e. brokers, insurance carriers, record-keepers), trustees and other administrative service providers. Lead contract negotiations to ensure the benefits strategy aligns with overall company-wide strategic goals while keeping a keen eye on cost control.
- Assures company compliance with provisions of legal requirements. Supervises preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners and other regulatory agencies.
- Prepares and executes with legal consultation, benefit documentation such as original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements and insurance policies. Instruct insurance carriers, trustees and other administrative agencies outside the company to effect changes in benefit programs. Ensures prompt and accurate compliance.
- Provides guidance and assistance to all locations on various employee benefit plans and builds systems and framework to ensure delivery and compliance.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy for all benefit and retirement programs. Create and/or maintain benefit policies, procedures, and program material.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 5+ years of progressive experience in the benefits field with demonstrated experience managing self-funded healthcare plans and retirement programs.
- Proven ability to work efficiently within a dynamic, fast-paced environment in a high-volume, fast-paced setting, preferably in hospitality or retail.
- Expert Knowledge of current and pending federal and state regulations regarding employee benefit programs (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, Sec. 125, Form 5500s, etc.).
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience in managing benefits modules in HR Systems.
- Exceptional project management and time-management skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Experience working with Dayforce preferred.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Work on hybrid schedule (three days in office and two days remote) out of Eataly corporate office in Flatiron District, Manhattan
The annual compensation for this role is $115,000- $135,000
