Quality Optimization Analyst


Provides analytical and scheduling support to the Quality and Optimization organization by creating blend models to generate highest margin opportunities, monitoring crude quality for any additional blending upside, and supporting trading and marketing groups for various initiatives across various asset base.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and develop crude blend optimization models across the Plains asset network to maximize margin per barrel while maintaining product specifications and operational reliability.
  • Lead day-to-day blending operations across six major crude oil hubs—Cushing, South Texas, St. James, Patoka, the Rockies, and the Permian Basin—overseeing crude movements, product scheduling, inventory optimization, and quality management to maximize margins, ensure operational reliability, and meet customer specifications.
  • Develop and maintain discounted cash flow models and financial analyses to support strategic business decisions and value optimization initiatives
  • Develop breakeven economics and market analyses for Lease Marketing and Trading teams, supporting competitive positioning at lease markets and key trading hubs.
  • Partner closely with scheduling teams to ensure monthly blend nominations are accurately forecasted, executed, and adjusted to accommodate changing customer supply requirements.
  • Collaborate with Commercial, Pipeline, and Terminal teams to quantify and capture blending value opportunities associated with new projects and incremental volumes across the Plains system.
  • Monitor and manage intra-month crude quality movements, identifying optimization opportunities and providing actionable market intelligence to Trading teams to maximize

Terminals Marketing Analyst


Provides analytical and operational support to the Commercial Marketing organization by assisting with market analysis, business development initiatives, and project economic generation.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Developed and created the revenue forecasting tool for Plains Terminals, which in turn gets reported directly to Senior Management for guidance and outlook purposes.
  • Assist Business Development with commercial and customer evaluations to analyze different deal structures to maximize EBITDA generation.
  • Track terminals volume flows for various terminals in the Plains asset network.
  • Monitor contract volumes, customer activity, and commercial performance metrics.
  • Analyze crude pricing and analyze how pricing swings have impacts on the terminals business, as well as provide bi-weekly updates to the commercial group about regional pricing moves.
  • Create and generate multitude of Ad-Hoc reports for entirety of the commercial group.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in midstream, energy, or logistics with 0- 2 years’ work experience in pipeline industry preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in forecasting, financial analysis, discounted cash flows and contract interpretation.
  • Advanced Excel skills and PowerPoint; Power BI experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, operational environment.
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks.
  • Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing.
