The Role • Lead the design of mechanical systems, sub-systems, and equipment for next-generation submarines. • Undertake functional design activities, calculations, and analysis. • Produce essential design documentation, verification, and validation evidence, including safety justifications. • Collaborate closely with suppliers and stakeholders to achieve design completion and review supplier documentation. • Demonstrate compliance with technical requirements and assess design compliance for system development. • Support build, test, and commissioning activities on a major submarine programme. What You'll Need • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant subject, or equivalent experience. • Proven experience in designing mechanical systems and specifying complex, high-value mechanical equipment. • Excellent communication skills with significant experience dealing with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. • Knowledge of the complete engineering lifecycle, including requirements, system design, integration, and acceptance. • Good awareness of product safety and SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment). • Ability to mentor junior engineers.
