Job Description

Title: Senior Linux Platform Engineer Type: Contract 6+ months Location: Cambridge, MA on Site *MUST HAVE ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE* We are seeking a Senior Linux Platform Engineer to build, automate, and operate secure, scalable infrastructure platforms that support modern software delivery. This role requires deep expertise in Linux administration, Kubernetes, containerization, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.
Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage Linux-based platform infrastructure with a focus on automation, reliability, and security.
  • Build and support containerized environments using Podman and Kubernetes.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code solutions using Ansible, including reusable playbooks, roles, and collections.
  • Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitLab, incorporating testing, security scanning, and automated deployments.
  • Manage Sonatype Nexus repositories for container images, Helm charts, and software packages.
  • Deploy and administer HashiCorp Vault for secrets management and credential rotation.
  • Build automation tools and integrations using Python.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for platform services.
  • Partner with engineering, security, and SRE teams to establish platform standards and best practices.
  • Mentor engineers on automation, Kubernetes, and DevOps methodologies. Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Linux administration experience, preferably with RHEL.
  • 3+ years of experience with Kubernetes in production environments.
  • Experience with Podman, Docker, or similar container technologies.
  • Strong expertise in Ansible and Infrastructure as Code practices.
  • Experience building and supporting GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with HashiCorp Vault and Sonatype Nexus.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting and automation.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux networking, security hardening, and system troubleshooting.
  • Experience implementing monitoring and observability solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building and operating internal platform engineering solutions.
  • Knowledge of Packer, Helm, and Kubernetes networking concepts.
  • Experience with DevSecOps and software supply chain security.
  • Strong technical documentation and cross-functional communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers. Technologies RHEL, Kubernetes, Podman, Ansible, GitLab CI/CD, HashiCorp Vault, Nexus Repository Manager, Packer, Python, Helm, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevOps, DevSecOps, Monitoring and Observability.
