AWS & GIS Application Developer

The Senior Application Developer/Engineer/Programmer designs, develops, and supports complex software applications across AWS cloud and on-premises environments. The role requires strong full-stack development and cloud architecture expertise, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into secure, scalable, and high-performing technical solutions. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with AWS, Angular, .NET, ESRI geospatial technologies, Terraform, ECS, GitLab, and AI-assisted development tools such as Claude and thrives in an Agile delivery environment.

Position Responsibilities

·        Analyze business and system requirements and translate them into scalable, cloud-native technical solutions.

·        Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain full-stack applications across AWS and on-premises environments.

·        Develop interactive geospatial applications using ESRI/ArcGIS technologies, including mapping, geocoding, APIs, and spatial services.

·        Develop modern frontend applications using Angular and integrate backend services and APIs.

·        Build and maintain cloud infrastructure using AWS, Terraform, Docker, and ECS, following Infrastructure as Code and cloud-native architecture practices.

·        Leverage Claude and other AI-assisted development tools to improve coding productivity, debugging, documentation, testing, and problem-solving.

·        Manage source code, configuration, and CI/CD processes using GitLab and GitLab pipelines.

·        Develop clean, efficient, secure, and maintainable code supported by comprehensive technical documentation.

·        Conduct code reviews, testing, debugging, performance optimization, and production troubleshooting.

·        Collaborate with developers, architects, business stakeholders, and other cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.

·        Provide technical leadership, contribute to architectural decisions, and ensure solutions meet business, security, quality, and delivery requirements.

Position Qualifications

·        Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.

·        Software Development: 7+ years of professional experience in software development, programming, or systems analysis, with a demonstrated record of delivering complex applications through the SDLC.

·        AWS & Cloud: 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native application development; experience with ECS, S3, RDS, Lambda, and API Gateway.

·        Development: Strong programming skills with experience in Angular, .NET, modern web development frameworks, APIs, and full-stack application development.

·        Infrastructure & DevOps: Hands-on experience with Terraform, Docker, ECS, GitLab, and CI/CD pipelines.

·        AI-Assisted Development: Experience using Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, or similar AI tools for code generation, debugging, documentation, testing, and development productivity; familiarity with prompt engineering is preferred.

·        Geospatial: Experience with ESRI/ArcGIS, including ArcGIS APIs, interactive mapping, geocoding, spatial services, and integration with cloud platforms.

·        Databases: Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including application development, data modeling, performance, and optimization.
