V2X is seeking a Technical Writer to join our team.
The Technical Writer II will perform as an experienced technical writer who plans and delivers complex documentation sets with minimal supervision. Responsibilities The Technical Writer II serves as a key documentation point of contact for one or more programs. Is considered a knowledgeable resource for document formatting, grammar and overall setup.
The Technical Writer II is part of the Whole Life Engineering team whose activities include supporting inspection, testing, servicing, classification as to serviceability, repair, refurbishment, and overhaul of an item or device, removal and replacement of secondary items and components and repair and remanufacturing of reparable components.
As such, the Technical Writer II interfaces with a multi-discipline team to develop technical documents including operations and maintenance procedures and supports the development of training documents to ensure the continued functioning of internal and customer's training systems.
Qualifications Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of technical writing experience or equivalent technical experience.
- U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to manage and provide direction to supporting life cycle engineering personnel
- Experience developing Operations and Maintenance procedures for DoW or military customer.
- Experience performing documentation reviews and providing feedback for document formatting, grammar and spelling errors.
Desired Skills
- Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (including Agile and/or Waterfall).
- Understanding of System Engineering product development process and approaches (IEEE-15288).
- Experience developing proposals and basis of estimates
- Experience working with very large, complex systems.
- Experience evaluating documentation development processes, tools, and standards and providing feedback for improvement.
- Familiarity with mentoring junior technical writers and engineers with documentation development approach, writing styles and formatting.
- Experience with leading a small group of junior technical writers and providing feedback about groups progress and issues.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication (ex. English, Journalism, Writing), Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related STEM field. #LI-WH1
