Job Title: Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer

Location: Arlington VA

Client: Persistent/Previa Health

 Key Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain scalable Ruby on Rails applications.

Build and enhance business-critical workflows supporting Value Based Care operations.

Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.

Collaborate with UX designers to implement approved workflows and user experiences.

Work with React-based components and front-end teams where required.

Integrate application functionality with Snowflake, MySQL and related data services.

Ensure application reliability, performance and security.

Participate in architecture discussions and technical design reviews.

Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers.

Work closely with QA teams to support test automation and continuous quality practices.

Troubleshoot production issues and support deployment activities.

Contribute to CI/CD and DevOps processes within GitLab-based development environments.

Perform performance optimisation and troubleshooting.

Support code review and technical documentation.

Required Skills

Technical Skills

5+ years of Ruby on Rails development experience.

Strong Ruby programming expertise.

Experience building and consuming REST APIs.

Strong understanding of MVC architecture and Rails best practices.

Experience working with relational databases such as MySQL.

Experience with Git-based source control systems.

Knowledge of software design patterns and application architecture.

Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

Engineering Practices

Object-oriented design and development.

Unit, integration and automated testing.

Secure coding practices.

Preferred Skills

Experience with React or modern JavaScript frameworks.

Healthcare provider, payer or population health industry experience.

Experience supporting workflow-driven web applications.

Snowflake experience.

Playwright automated testing exposure.

Experience working within cloud-hosted environments.

Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

Nice-to-Have Skills

Healthcare quality programmes and Value Based Care knowledge.

Care management or patient engagement platform experience.

Event-driven or service-oriented architectures.

AI-enabled application experience.
