Role overview

We are hiring a Senior Developer who has TypeScript expertise to build and own Front End applications in Next.js and the AWS Lambda services behind them. You will write production code day to day, set the standard for TypeScript and testing across the team, and mentor other engineers.

  • Location and working pattern:100% Remote
  • Contract type: Inside IR35

Key responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain Front End applications using TypeScript and Next.js.
  • Develop and deploy serverless Back End services on AWS Lambda, and integrate them with the Front End.
  • Act as the team's TypeScript expert: define conventions, review code and raise code quality.
  • Write and maintain automated tests with Jest, and keep coverage meaningful as the codebase grows.
  • Work with product, design and other engineers to turn requirements into reliable, maintainable features.
  • Troubleshoot and improve performance, reliability and security across the Front End and Lambda services.
  • Mentor less experienced developers and contribute to technical decisions.

Essential skills and experience

  • Senior-level commercial experience as a developer, with expert-level TypeScript (a genuine subject matter expert).
  • Strong hands-on experience with Next.js and modern Front End development.
  • Proven experience building and deploying services on AWS Lambda, including Front End development that relies on Lambda back ends.
  • Experience writing unit and integration tests with Jest.
  • Solid grasp of API design, error handling, logging and monitoring for serverless applications.
  • Comfortable with Git, code review and CI/CD workflows.
  • Clear communication and the ability to work with non-technical colleagues.

Nice to have

  • Experience working with Amazon S3 and DynamoDB from Lambda-based applications.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (for example AWS CDK, SAM or Terraform).
