Job Description

Radar Signal Processing Software Engineer Mid - Senior Level | $90,000-$127,000 | On-site | Colorado Springs, CO | Active Secret Clearance Required Develop and optimize advanced radar signal processing software supporting mission-critical radar systems and high-performance computing environments. This role combines modern C++ software engineering, digital signal processing, GPU acceleration, and AI-enabled engineering tools to develop high-performance solutions for complex radar applications. The successful engineer will work across software, algorithms, hardware, and systems engineering disciplines to design, implement, optimize, test, and integrate advanced signal processing capabilities in high-side development environments. A Day in the Life - What youll do

  • Design, develop, document, test, debug, and optimize applications software and systems implementing complex logical, mathematical, and signal processing solutions.
  • Develop and optimize radar signal processing algorithms and pipelines for demanding digital signal processing (DSP) applications.
  • Apply modern engineering toolchains, including DSP System Toolbox, Signal Processing Toolbox, and Phased Array System tools, to model, prototype, analyze, and validate radar processing solutions.
  • Develop high-performance signal processing implementations using C++, Python, Java, and CUDA across Linux-based environments.
  • Leverage GPGPU acceleration to optimize computationally intensive signal processing and analytics workloads for real-time or performance-critical applications.
  • Analyze GPU performance and identify opportunities for optimization across memory usage, processing pipelines, algorithm implementation, and computational throughput.
  • Utilize NVIDIA technologies, including CUDA and MatX, to implement and optimize GPU-accelerated radar processing capabilities.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers, systems engineers, equipment designers, and other technical disciplines to define, develop, integrate, and troubleshoot electronic data processing systems.
  • Translate system and user needs into software architecture, processing requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and implementation approaches.
  • Analyze system capabilities and performance to identify issues involving processing requirements, data acquisition, programming techniques, controls, and system behavior.
  • Develop software solutions that integrate with radar hardware, RF systems, processing architectures, and operational environments.
  • Perform software integration, verification, debugging, and performance testing across complex radar processing environments.
  • Investigate system and software performance issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions and optimizations.
  • Apply modern C++ development techniques and standards to create maintainable, high-performance software for real-time processing applications.
  • Use AI-enabled engineering tools, including AI coding assistants, to accelerate code explanation, refactoring, documentation, and test generation while maintaining engineering accountability for all reviewed and approved code.
  • Support development activities within high-side/classified environments, following applicable security, configuration management, and software development processes.
  • Conduct multidisciplinary technical research to evaluate emerging technologies, algorithms, processing architectures, and development approaches.
  • Develop technical documentation, design artifacts, test documentation, and engineering reports supporting software development and system integration.
  • Work independently to identify defects, performance bottlenecks, optimization opportunities, and future engineering needs beyond the immediate task or user story.
  • Principal-level engineers will provide technical leadership for complex software and signal processing development activities and contribute to architectural and implementation decisions.
  • Sr. Principal-level engineers will provide advanced technical direction across software, DSP, GPU acceleration, and radar processing efforts while guiding engineering teams through complex development and optimization challenges. Required Qualifications Principal Level
  • Bachelors degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related experience; OR
  • Masters degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience; OR
  • PhD in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related experience.
  • 4 additional years of related experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree. Sr. Principal Level
  • Bachelors degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related experience; OR
  • Masters degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related experience; OR
  • PhD in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience.
  • 4 additional years of related experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree. All Levels
  • Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance, current and within scope, at time of application.
  • Demonstrated experience developing software using C++, Java, Python, and CUDA.
  • Experience developing software in Linux environments.
  • Experience with RF signal processing and radar-related digital signal processing.
  • Experience with GPU optimization and performance-critical computing.
  • Experience with the NVIDIA MatX library.
  • Experience applying AI-enabled software engineering tools to development activities.
  • Experience working within high-side/classified development environments and associated processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across software, hardware, systems, and algorithm engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong radar signal processing knowledge, including the ability to explain:
  • Generation of Range-Doppler Maps from radar signals.
  • Beamforming techniques using sparse arrays.
  • RF/system loss budgets and performance tradeoffs.
  • Calibration concepts and their application to distributed radar systems.
  • Strong modern C++ knowledge, including real-time processing, current C++ standards, and modern C++ development techniques.
  • Advanced understanding of CUDA/GPGPU processing, including the benefits and constraints of implementing signal processing algorithms on GPUs.
  • Experience with CUDA libraries such as cuFFT and/or cuSignal.
  • Experience with NVIDIA MatX is highly desirable.
  • Functional familiarity with MATLAB and Python for modeling, prototyping, analysis, and engineering development.
  • Experience optimizing real-time signal processing pipelines for computational performance and throughput.
  • Experience integrating software with radar hardware, RF systems, or distributed processing architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a self-starter with minimal direction, rapidly learn complex systems, and proactively identify defects, performance improvements, and optimization opportunities.
  • Experience applying AI-assisted development tools throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience with Agile software development and modern DevSecOps practices.
