About the Role
Are you a seasoned content strategist and publishing specialist passionate about home improvement, design, and lifestyle trends?
As Content Planning Manager, you will steer the end-to-end planning, production, and delivery of one of Australia & New Zealand’s most widely read customer magazines, and contribute to other exciting bespoke publications.
Reporting into and collaborating closely with the Content Director, you will develop creative concepts and guide the team that brings them to life on the page while ensuring strong strategic alignment with trade planning, supplier partnerships, and brand marketing priorities. You will also work hand-in-glove with our Content Integration & Planning, Brand, Social, and Media teams to ensure our print storytelling seamlessly amplifies across digital channels, retail media, and always-on campaigns.
Please note: this is a 12 month Max Term Contract.
What You'll Do
- End-to-End Publication Management: Oversee the lifecycle of a major ANZ customer magazine and bespoke print assets—from initial flat-planning and content development through to print production, advertising revenue coordination, and distribution logistics.
- Strategic Editorial Planning: Develop rich editorial calendars that tap into seasonal retail moments, DIY building trends, and customer interests, balancing commercial priorities with genuine reader value.
- Omni-Channel Integration: Collaborate with the Content Integration & Planning Manager and digital/social teams to adapt, extend, and amplify print stories into retail media, social campaigns, and personalised customer journeys.
- Commercial & Supplier Collaboration: Partner with suppliers, internal teams, and agency partners to facilitate sponsored content and advertising integration while upholding editorial integrity.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure all copy, visual assets, and layouts meet strict brand guidelines, advertising standards, editorial compliance, and Australian/NZ consumer laws.
- Production Schedule Governance: Drive rigorous project timelines, managing proofs, approvals, and stakeholder sign-offs across multiple concurrent editions without missing a beat.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven Publishing & Content Background: 5+ years of experience in magazine publishing, content marketing, or large-scale multi-channel content production.
- Print & Production Savvy: Deep understanding of the magazine lifecycle, including flat-planning, editorial workflows, prepress, print production, and distribution.
- Category Passion: A finger on the pulse of home improvement, DIY, gardening, outdoor living, and lifestyle trends across Australia and New Zealand.
- Exceptional Project Management: Highly organised with rigorous attention to detail and a track record of delivering complex print and digital projects on time and within budget.
- Stakeholder Influence: Polished communication and relationship-building skills, adept at navigating internal brand teams, retail media specialists, suppliers, and external agency partners.
- Tool Proficiency: Working knowledge of content management systems (CMS), workflow management platforms, and modern publishing production software.
